SOS Tweet Tweet (CDN Version)

The students during my online school class were teaching themselves to use Excel, but their concentration was devoted to writing correct formulas, which resulted in they weren’t really connecting using the overall picture with the items this powerful tool will surely accomplish. I want to the theifs to make connections with how Excel can assist them personally, like helping these for management of their money and tracking grades.

My students used SOS Tweet Tweet to express ideas with what they’d like Excel do for him or her. Then, I used digital media to educate them about advanced Excel functions.

Next, I showed them youtube videos showing how to calculate their GPA. This intrigued them, therefore i had them get hands-on and make their own individual GPA worksheet. My students explained to me non-stop what amount fun the lesson was and in what ways they reckoned like they understand Excel slightly better.

I finished up the time by using them use?SOS Tweet Tweet a second time to share with you something they learned by the end of the course period, which was a singular approach to collect exit slip data!

SOS Six Word Story (CDN Version)

Our 8th grade students were focusing on using reading skills to know history of the Mexican-American War. We asked those to highlight important portions of the writing they had been reading and then to get SOS Six Word Story summaries of them highlighted parts.

They learned creating concise summaries that helped them understand key ideas and details after which you can developed a short storyline for your text. We found that our students were a lot more motivated to try and do the task and enjoyed the lesson more in comparison with just reading the passages and answering multiple choice questions at the conclusion.

SOS: Table Texting (CDN Version)

My students needed practice with numbers and exponents, and so i decided to use SOS: Table Top Texting along with them solve a multi-step equation via text.

I found this kept students engaged, but it helped them see each step with the problem-solving. They corrected one another’s mistakes, and so they did a wonderful job of showing the work they do. I’m going to utilize this strategy again!
